Brian Perkins
Sales

From commercial fisherman to developer of the world’s largest seafood show, Brian Perkins is a man of diverse background and uncommon drive. As president and CEO of ngn, inc., Brian was responsible for the development and implementation of innovative content-rich online platforms delivering dynamic information, product representation, and interactive portal features to organizers—including Pennwell, UBM, and United Fresh. Prior to that, Brian enjoyed 15 years at Diversified Business Communications (DBC) where he started as sales manager for seafood events; he was COO/executive vice president when he left to join ngn. During his tenure, Brian oversaw the start-up of the European Seafood Exposition, as well as half a dozen events in the United States, Europe, and Asia; while DBC grew revenue 15-fold. Ultimately Brian had direct responsibility for 18 domestic and international trade shows and three B2B publications in the commercial marine, seafood, ethnic food, organic products, floral, administrative, and complementary medicine verticals.

Tom Tomczyk
Business Development ~ Research & Strategic Planning

Tom Tomczyk’s expertise is developing and implementing innovative, successful business growth strategies. During his 11 years with Diversified Business Communications (DBC), most recently as vice president of business development, Tom engineered and oversaw 20 strategic acquisitions and joint ventures, including Kosherfest, the Administrative Professionals Conference, and CAMExpo. As a key member of the executive team, he was instrumental in researching and developing numerous new-product launches. His responsibilities included prospecting acquisition candidates, developing business valuations and pro formas, and acquisition negotiations. Prior to his work with DBC, Tom served as chief planning officer for the Visiting Nurse Service of Southern Maine, a $13 million non-profit home care agency. Rounding out Tom’s portfolio were productive stints at Pan Atlantic Consultants serving clients in Australia, Canada, the Caribbean, Germany, Ireland, Norway and the United States; Carroll Reed as controller of retail operations; and General Mills as senior business analyst.

Ted Hugger
Marketing & Public Relations ~ Branding

Ted Hugger wears the entrepreneur’s hat on the Highliner team. After founding and then operating a marketing/communications firm for 10 years serving a variety of clients, including show organizers, Ted launched his first trade show in 2005 for the forestry industry. Two years later, he acquired a failing biennial northeast commercial fishing show and successfully repositioned, relocated and rebranded the event. He has since launched the brand as an alternate-year event in the mid-Atlantic region. Before forming his agency, Ted was director of marketing for Diversified Business Communications and part of the launch team for the European Seafood Exposition. Prior to DBC, he was director of marketing for WoodenBoat Publications, Inc., and part of the start-up team for Professional BoatBuilder magazine and the International BoatBuilders Exhibition & Conference (IBEX); director of marketing for Gougeon Brothers/WEST SYSTEM, public relations manager for a $100 million Jack Nicklaus corporate resort, and founder and publisher of a community newspaper.

Imogene Altznauer
Operations

Imogene Altznauer’s expertise is domestic and international event operations and floor management, with a specialization in food event operations. As founder and principle of In the Mix/International Event Management, Imogene provided project management in the United Kingdom, Dubai, Moscow, Kiev, and throughout the United States. Events included Consumer Electronics Show, AHMA Hardware Show, Expoships-Seafair, Mr. Olympia, and American Machine Tool Distributors Association’s MTELV. Prior to forming In the Mix, she served as operations manager for Diversified Business Communications working on the International Boston Seafood Show, All Things Organic, Expo Comida Latina, All Asia Food, and Kosherfest. Imogene also held operations management positions with Redkin 5th Avenue NYC events, Comtek International, and Advanstar Expositions.
